2024 State of the Chart Updates

My marketing background and instincts wouldn’t allow us to miss an opportunity to brand our updates for the 2024 season. As we enter our second season running CFBDepth.com, we really wanted to find a way to better organize these massive updates and page improvements as we gear up for the season. So, we announce the “State of the Chart” series. This is basically what has been happening over the last few weeks if you follow us on X (which you should, if you don’t). We will update this post when new schools are “moved” to the “Spring Mode” which entails the whole, “Out with the old; in with the new,” philosophy. We are now showing only players who are on the official roster and providing our best playing time projections, which fuels our rankings (more on that in a bit).

You can see at the right all of the squads that have been moved to the new depth chart pages. These new pages also include new features in the tabs, like the full on-field coaching staffs and status & injury reports. Below the updates, you’ll see who is next on the list and our best guess when we will release each of the remaining. Again, follow us on X to get the updates when new teams are finished. Each of those teams will then be updated in real-time as news breaks, camps open and/or player movement occurs. As you can see by our schedule, the goal is to have all 134 schools updated by the end of July. This would give us a few weeks to really dive into all the wonderful insights that can and will be gleaned from this new full-on model. The strength of schedule analysis will be humming and we’ll start identifying the best seasonal win totals bets, fantasy rankings and more… WE ARE TAKING REQUESTS As you can see, we are going in Power Conference order for the release of each of the teams throughout the off-season. For our loyal early followers, we are taking requests to bump your favorite school to the top of the list for updates. If you’d like to see your school before we have them slated in the schedule, just ask us. We’ll do it and adjust the rest of the schedule in response. COMMUNITY EFFORT As always, this is a community effort. One that needs to have full communication if something looks off. You know your favorite team(s) better than anybody, so let us know if you think we have something wrong. You can e-mail us directly or DM on X. UPCOMING OFF-SEASON FEATURES We are going to be adding a lot of cool other features beyond the individual depth charts themselves. This includes:
  • NEW (sortable) Dynamic Team ratings / rankings
  • Seasonal Player Projections / Fantasy Rankings
  •  Season Win Totals Best Bets
  • Conference Previews
  • and more…
Here is a look at the LIVE talent ratings / rankings as we move through the SOTC updates.
Thank you for following along with our little endeavor. We plan to bring you the best, up-to-date experience as we grow and we appreciate all of the early feedback and, of course, shout outs. Please spread the word. It makes all the hard work and sleepless nights very much worth it.
